Category: Trasylol Discussion

While undergoing surgery it may be unusual for a doctor or surgeon to discuss the exact medications and details of every procedure that will be performed on you. If you or a loved one has undergone open heart surgery in the last five years than you may want to find out what drugs were used, especially if there were any complications.

The FDA and Bayer took the anti-bleeding drug Trasylol off the market in November after reports that it increased the risk of death by 50 percent. You may not be aware that it was used during you or your loved one's surgery. If there were unexpected complications or death than Trasylol may have been responsible. Please talk with your doctor about getting the medical records. The risk from using the drug Trasylol may extend for five years post-surgery according to a February report in the Journal of American Medicine.
